In an environment where machine productivity and availability are essential, McCormick, a brand of the Argo Tractors group, relies on ACTIA’s remote diagnostic technology to provide faster, more efficient, and cost-effective after-sales services to its customers.
Context: Efficiency First
Tractor manufacturers constantly strive to reduce maintenance costs and machine downtime while ensuring responsive customer support.
“Our customers need to rely on full tractor availability. During peak periods, every hour of downtime has a cost” explains a McCormick dealer.
The Solution: Remote Diagnostics & Intelligent Maintenance
To meet these challenges, ACTIA developed the Telematic Gateway Unit – TGU-R, a connected gateway protected against cyber threats, enabling remote diagnostics and intelligent maintenance of agricultural machines.
When an alert is detected, the technician can connect directly to the tractor, analyze data, and perform software updates or reconfigurations remotely, without travel or machine downtime.
“With ACTIA’s TGU-R, we have significantly improved our responsiveness. Technicians can intervene in real-time, wherever the machine is located” says a mechatronics engineer at Argo Tractors.
A True Customer Experience: Remote Diagnostics in Action
In the field, a farmer receives an alert on the dashboard of their McCormick tractor.
They contact their dealer technician, who authenticates with a secure PIN and connects to the machine via the TGU-R telematics gateway.
The machine establishes a secure, encrypted connection between its CAN network and the technician’s remote diagnostic tool. Within seconds, the technician accesses all real-time technical data, performs a complete ECU diagnostic, identifies the issue, and updates the software if necessary.
Throughout the process, the technician and farmer remain in direct communication, ensuring full transparency.
Once fault codes are cleared, the alerts disappear from the dashboard, and the farmer can immediately resume work.
“This represents a real change in the customer relationship: the farmer retains control of their machine while benefiting from instant expert assistance,“ emphasizes a McCormick dealer.
ACTIA: Longstanding Expert in Vehicle Connectivity and Diagnostics
With over 35 years of expertise in electronic diagnostics, ACTIA is recognized as a leading technological partner for vehicle manufacturers in the automotive, industrial, and agricultural sectors.
The group masters the entire technology chain: from the design of embedded electronic systems to telematics connectivity and cybersecurity, providing robust, scalable, and interoperable solutions.
“ACTIA leveraged its long-standing expertise in OEM diagnostics and remote maintenance to meet the demands of the agricultural world, where reliability and responsiveness are essential” states Davide LOY, Vice President of the Off-Highway Market at ACTIA.
